"Kali Mas" : the golden river in Surabaya


The oldest port in Surabaya, recalls the traditional seafaring life style. Even today, wooden sailing ships haul cargo as they have for centuries.

For example, the phinisi is hand crafted by the Bugis of Sulawesi, known to be the most skillful sailors and ship builders of Indonesia's 122 ethnic groups.

Tugu Pahlawan alias Heroes Monument in my hero city : Surabaya


Surabaya, also proudly bears the name "City of Heroes". The title honors those fallen during the battle of Surabaya fought while trying to repel the Dutch invasion in 1945, shortly after Indonesia's Proclamation of Independence. Many heroes monument decorate the city in remembrance of this fighting spirit.

The Tugu Pahlawan literally Heroes Monument is Surabaya's most famous landmark. The obelisk 45 yards high and features 11 joint in the 10 sided design. This configuration represents November 10th, 1945 Indonesia's Heroes Day.



"Submarine Monument" alias Monkasel alias Monumen Kapal Selam


This is the real submarine of KRI Pasopati 410, one of Indonesia's Navy Armada. It is a Russian Submarine SS whiskey Class, and was made in 1952.

KRI Pasopati 410 involved in the Arafuru Sea Battle to free West Irian from the Dutch occupation. It is now become a monument to commemorate the brave Indonesia's heroes.
